The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), Denmark, invites applications for a 3-year postdoctoral position in the Centre for Early Childhood Cognition, starting 1st of November 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position is for 34 months.

Job description
The successful candidate will work as part of a project entitled “The role of infants’ emerging self-perspective in memory development” funded by the Danish Independent Research Fund (DFF), under the supervision of PI Dr. Dora Kampis. The longitudinal project will investigate the emerging understanding of self-other perspective and its role in episodic/source memory development (for more info visit: https://dff.dk/en/apply/supported-research/research-leaders/research-leaders-2022/researchleader-3?set_language=en). The successful candidate will take responsibility for designing, implementing, and leading investigations with children between 1-3.5 years of age, involving eye-tracking, looking time, and interactive measures, with the possibility to include EEG. There will be scope for the candidate to influence the direction of the project, depending on their own interests.

It is expected that the successful candidate will work collaboratively with other members of the lab, and to support one another. The successful candidate will be expected to disseminate the output of the project by attending international conferences and writing manuscripts, and contribute to daily lab-life, including taking part in reading groups and theoretical discussion. It is also expected that the successful candidate be willing to mentor younger members of the lab, including PhD students, interns, and student research assistants. Finally, depending on teaching needs of the department, the postdoc may be requested to contribute to the teaching of undergraduate students (up to 20% of the time).

Qualification requirements
The candidate must have obtained a PhD degree in Cognitive Science, Psychology, Neuroscience or a related discipline prior to the beginning of employment. The preferred candidate will have excellent theoretical knowledge of the field of early cognition, in particular the current state of research and theory on development of social cognition and/or memory development.

The ideal candidate would have experience with conducting experiments with infants and/or preschoolers, using both interactive and screen-based methods, including eye tracking, and good data analysis skills. Knowledge of programming (e.g., in Matlab and R), advanced statistical methods such as path analysis, and longitudinal designs would be an advantage.

The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, and, in particular, be comfortable interacting with infants and their parents. We expect the candidate to have good collaborative skills, as well as skills in the realm of verbal and written communication in English, as evidenced by a promising publication record. The candidate must have an international outlook, be able to work independently and proactively, and be committed to open and reproducible science. Danish language proficiency is not a requirement.
